NTG5*2 (also written NTG5s2 or NTG5.2 — and shown in service tools as just "NTG5") is the other parallel NTG5 COMAND head-unit variant. Rotary-controlled with the SD-card slot in the centre armrest, fitted to large saloons and sporty platforms that launched fresh with NTG5.

About NTG5*2
- NTG5*2 is rotary-controller only — no physical keypad on the fascia. The keypad is what tells NTG5*1 apart visually.
- NTG5*2 doesn't have built-in Apple CarPlay or Android Auto — adding those features requires a retrofit (SmartBox or similar). NTG5*1 supports them natively.
- The SD-card slot is in the centre armrest, not on the head-unit fascia as on NTG5*1.
- In Mercedes service tools the head unit is often shown simply as "NTG5". *1 and *2 aren't a sequence — they're two parallel hardware variants Mercedes used on different platforms.
