BMW & MINI map updates — answered.
Compatibility, USB preparation, iDrive prompts and FSC code entry — every common BMW and MINI question, in one place. Still stuck? Ask a human.
Which BMW Map Update Should I Select?
Choosing the right BMW map update is easy. Sit in your BMW and press the 'Nav' button, then the 'Option' button on your controller. Scroll to the last menu item 'Navigation System Version' — this shows the map version currently in your car (for example 'Road Map Europe Premium 2014-1'). Pick the update that matches that version. Other versions (Motion, Move, Next) won't work if your car is on Premium. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering.
Or use our compatibility checker — enter your VIN and we'll tell you instantly.

BMW Navigation Update Process: Step-by-Step
1. Keep the engine running during the update (or do it while driving). 2. Insert the USB stick with map files into the correct port — glovebox USB for Premium, Motion, Move; centre console USB for Next, Route, EVO ID4, EVO ID5/ID6 and Way. 3. Wait ~20 seconds for the pop-up. 4. Select 'Start update' with the iDrive controller. 5. Enter the 20-character FSC (no digits '0' or '1'). 6. Leave the USB inserted until the update finishes — the system reboots automatically.
Does a BMW Map Update Void My Vehicle's Warranty?
No. Our map files and FSC codes come directly from the BMW database — they're the same FSC codes a dealership would issue, so updates comply with BMW's standards.
What's Included in a BMW Service History Check?
A detailed PDF covering the vehicle's maintenance journey: all services and repairs performed, the car's equipment list, and information to help with future maintenance decisions. Only work completed by authorised BMW dealers is included.
Can I Activate BMW Apple CarPlay Via USB?
It depends on your BMW's head unit firmware. Check via Navigation Maps > Options > Settings > Position & Version History > Version Information. Versions starting with O, N or M can be activated via USB or cable. Versions starting with P, Q, R, S, U, V, W, X or Y require cable coding — you'll need an ENET coding cable and a Windows laptop (Windows 10 or newer).
Will Fullscreen CarPlay Add-On Work on My BMW iDrive?
Check your software version via Maps > Options > Settings > Position & Version History > Version Information. N or O versions support both USB and cable coding. P, Q, R, S, U, V, W, X, Y versions require cable coding, using an ENET cable and a Windows 10+ laptop.
